The Central Coast Boardwalk project and rockpool restoration, jointly funded by Central Coast Council and the NSW Government will deliver an improved pedestrian experience between Terrigal Beach Promenade and The Haven.
The route follows the headland allowing the community to enjoy an oceanfront walk. All elevated boardwalks require pillars to be set deep in the earth, with this project no exception. The major challenge was commencing construction and drilling into the ocean bed at low tides and in between waves. To avoid construction setbacks, machinery had to be of the highest quality supplied with a range of excavator attachments required to get the desired workload complete each shift.
Challenges involved in such a large-scale project included:
- Site health & safety,
- Environmental impacts
- Operator efficiency & Earthmoving Machine Availability
- Timing of excavation, tidal specific
